Another GREAT idea!

Home haircuts? OK, no problem. I've even become (somewhat reluctantly, at first) Matt's personal barber after he went out and bought a clipper set. The results have been quite attractive, if I do say so myself. But home liposuction? That is just SICK. I can't imagine the conversation that begins with: "You know, I think it's time for a surgical solution to my weight problem." And ends with: "Well, we have plenty of room in the basement..."

Great idea!

I couldn't make this up. A Minneapolis postmodern dance company tried to bring a fake bomb on a plan in Philadelphia and forced the evacuation of part of the airport. Their name? Hijack.

Wedding Bliss

The wedding was an overwhelming success. Other than some light rain that forced the ceremony inside, everything went off without a hitch. The best part was Amy's very loud and enthusiastic "I WILL!" when asked if she would take Brian as her husband. So cute. These are a few early pictures from Kate, one of the bridesmaids. I would put some of my photos up but the camera cord is still in Chatham with my mom and John. Hopefully they're enjoying a final lobster before heading back to the (HOT!) midwest. Brian and Amy are having 80-minute massages on the beach and visiting elephant farms in Thailand. All is well.

P.S. Other than the blond hair, could this be a glimpse of the future?

Destination Cape Cod

Despite being delayed by thunderstorms in Minneapolis (the first in several weeks, naturally), and getting somewhat lost in the Hell That is the Big Dig, Matt and I made it to Chatham, Mass., yesterday in one piece. It's a little cloudy today, so we took advantage of the cooler weather and went on a 14-mile bike ride with my dad. No matter the weather, we're looking forward to a week off work. And, even more, Brian and Amy's wedding! It's going to be absolutely lovely. I'll post photos when we get back. Until then, we're planning on gorging ourselves on seafood!

Happy 4th

It was the highlight of the year for my dad yesterday: the Fourth of July! He even went out to the floating dock and draped it with stars-and-stripes banners. It was a cool but nice night for fireworks, and the view was pretty spectacular. My butt felt a little flat after sitting on the dock bench for an hour or so, and it took us a good hour to get home since everyone managed to leave their respective parties at the exact same time, but it was definitely worth it. Next year we're hitting the road as the last boom reverberates off the windows of my parents' house.

Earlier in the weekend we celebrated Isabelle's (our niece's) 7th birthday with the Elbert/Warren clan. It was a fun and relaxing weekend all around. Lots of good food and family time.
Campfire+marshmallows=DEElish.

The Lilly Gaze will break hearts one day.
